Mike Sparling (Mr. Scribbles) on Main Street in Perry, NY hanging poems for Poetry in Motion.
***
This year's Poetry in Motion event was held on the weekend of April 26th-April 28th to celebrate National Poetry Month. We couldn't have asked for more beautiful weather. As you can see by the store windows there are several poems fluttering in the wind.
Poems are put up on Friday night for everyone to enjoy all weekend long. There was quite a variety this year. The majority were original works by local poets mailed in to Michael Sparling ahead of the event date. A few classics by well know poets were mingled in. Some were thought provoking prose, others full of humor.
You don't need to be a local to be included. We have received poems from several parts of the globe. If you would like to be included in next years event, there's no time like the present to mail Mike a copy of your prose. There is no juried selection process. All poems suitable for public viewing will be hung on the day of the event.
Poems should be on 8 1/2" by 11" in size ( or if in UK etc., an equivalent size) preferably on color paper. Submit your poetry (typed or handwritten, good or bad) for hanging in the 2014 Poetry in Motion event by sending them to:

On the same weekend, members of the Wyoming Writes writer's group and other local folks participated in an excellent workshop by Michael Czarnecki on Palm of the Hand Memoir Writing at the Wyoming County Arts Council, also on Main Street in Perry. What a wonderful experience if you ever have a chance to attend. The thought of writing a memoir for your own pleasure or to pass on to your kids seems daunting, but Michael's method made it easy and effortless to come up with ideas from memories and write them down. Below are a couple photographs of the day. In the first photo, Michael Czarnecki is seated at the center, head of the table (Michael Sparling is to his right.)---C. Amrhein
